The Branston name has been synonymous with pickle since 1922. The name itself comes from a village two miles south of Burton-on-Trent in Staffordshire.
Edmund Crosse and Thomas Blackwell first met when they apprenticed at the same family firm in 1819. They shared an enthusiasm for their employer's taste in pickles, sauces and condiments, which they prepared for wealthy and fashionable households of the city.
In 1829 they joined forces and bought the business from their employer. They sought recipes from the greatest chefs of the days and the firm received the first in an unbroken succession of royal appointments in 1837.
Today Branston has brought its expertise in bringing life to a wide range of excellently tasting products such as baked beans, relishes and table sauces.
The essence of Branston is THE TANG which brings food to life through its unique multi-dimensional taste and combination of tanginess, sweetness, spices and bite.
